The California Legislative Black Caucus (CBLC) will hold a legislative retreat at the Morongo Casino Resort & Spa Friday, August 5 and Saturday, August 6 to strategize a full-scale campaign against California Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger’s plans for a special election November 8. The retreat will also feature prospective State Assembly and Senate candidates for seats in Oakland, Inglewood, Long Beach, Central and West Los Angeles.
“This is an historic opportunity to bring local and state black officials and their
supporters together to develop a unified plan to stop the Governor’s attempt to derail public unions and state services.” says 52nd District Assemblymember Mervyn M. Dymally who chairs the CBLC.
African American state and national legislators are outraged at Governor Schwarzenegger’s plans for a special election November 8 to attack unions, public education, and state employees’ wages and benefits.
The Morongo Casino Resort & Spa is located at 49500 Seminole Drive Cabazon, California 92230 (exit Highway 10 at Cabazon).
The event is free and the public is encouraged to attend.
