What’s with all of the nooses popping up on campuses around the country lately?

The latest incident took place on the campus of the University of Maryland where a hangman’s noose was found hanging from a tree near the Nyumburu Cultural Center, home to the Black Faculty and Staff Association, the Black Explosion newspaper and other organizations.

The Washington Post reports that today there will be a speak-out with members of the university’s community at 6 p.m. in front of the McKeldin Library on campus.

In Jena, Louisiana, a group of white students hung nooses from a tree that resulted in
six Black boys being charged for second degree aggravated assault (a reduction from second degree attempted murder) and conspiracy to commit the assaults because they violated the "social space" of the white students at the high school, a tree that the white students stood under daily.  The Black boys are known as the Jena 6 and their cases are currently pending.

Like I said a few posts ago, not a week goes by where there isn’t some racial atrocity committed against Blacks.  Last week it was the "Ghetto Handbook," this week it’s in Maryland.  Now I ask you again, is America really ready for a Black man in the White House if we can’t even stop nooses from popping up on college campuses?
