Before I get out of here for the weekend, if you’re in the L.A. area, my girl Lina has a show Saturday night at the Temple Bar in Santa Monica.

Lina released her latest album Morning Star back in February and has been making the rounds performing all over the country.

I’ve been a fan since Stranger on Earth, and still play that album regularly.

Lina became popular for her ability to take the sound of 50’s jazz and blues and mix it with R&B and hip-hop. She writes all her songs and is often compared to jazz great Billie Holiday, Erykah Badu, and Jill Scott.

Her newest album Morning Star keeps up with her tradition of putting out good original music. Personal anthems include “Wake Up” and “Breakthrough.” Other favs include “Good Day” and “Feel The Love.”

If you’re not familiar with Lina, I suggest that you check her out, starting with her debut album Stranger on Earth.
