Undeniably one of the best songwriters of his generation, since his first single, “The Moon”, which was released through Warner Bros. records in 1994, Eric has performed in a number of musicals and plays. He eventually landed a songwriting deal through the EMI label and went on to collaborate with Philly based artists such as Jill Scott, Musiq Soulchild, and most extensively, DJ Jazzy Jeff. As a member of Jeff’s A Touch Of Jazz production company, Roberson made contributions to Jeff’s debut album, The Magnificent in 2002.
Eric is probably best known for his own discography, which has garnered him fans worldwide and includes albums The Esoteric Movement (2001), The Vault 1.0 (2003), The Vault 1.5(2004), The Appetizer (2005), Erro Live Vol. DC (2006), and …Left (2007).
He continues songwriting work as well as releasing his own material through his Blue Erro Soul imprint. He also appeared on DJ Spinna’s Intergalactic Soul LP in 2006 and his hit song “Couldn’t Hear Me” appears on the compilation Gilles Peterson Worldwide Exclusives 3 (2004) out on Talking Loud recordings. In December 2007, Eric appeared on TV One’s Baisden After Dark.
The August 2nd show marks Eric’s return to the Los Angeles area since earlier this year in February when he performed for 2008 Grammy nominee Vikter Duplaix’s Kiss-n-Grind party alongside of the Brand New Heavies and Caron Wheeler of the popular U.K. based band Soul II Soul.
The Temple Bar in Santa Monica continues to be a staple in L.A.’s live music scene as a cultural crossroads where patrons unwind amidst the vibes created by a community of local, national, and international artists.
