We’re not against the police. We’re not against the police department, but we are against police who commit misconduct (and those who help cover it up).
So here’s the deal. The Ezell Ford autopsy report and I am assuming the investigative report findings were supposed to be announced Monday, December 22 at 3 p.m. The press conference was cancelled because of what happened in New York. LAPD believes that its officers are under ADDED threat based on what happened.
I do not believe that cops are under additional threat based on the actions of one man in New York. I mean if I did, then I’d also have to believe that just because one cop killed an unarmed Black man, all cops are likely to kill an unarmed Black man. You follow me?
Anyway, now in order for the mayor not to be a liar, that report has to be released during Kwanzaa, sometime between December 26 and December 31–because the mayor did say that we would get it before the end of the year so that takes January 1 out of the picture completely. But the mayor also said on December 8 we’d have by December 22 and that the public wouldn’t have to wait until the end of year. I’m just saying.
So we will find out the details and findings related to the death of an unarmed Black man during the middle of a Black holiday. Nice. I do not believe that if Ezell Ford was Jewish they would release his autopsy during Chanukah. No respect. None whatsoever.
And for the record, the public should be MORE concerned about the Force Investigation Division and the Use of Force Division’s findings—not the autopsy. It’s those two reports the Department uses to determine an in policy shooting verses an out of policy shooting. The autopsy of a death involving a gun gives you ballistics–where it went and where it came out, if it came out at all.
