Horrible news to wake up to this morning.
City News Services is reporting that two 15-year-old boys were found dead at the scene of an apartment complex fire today in the Crenshaw area, a Los Angeles Fire Department spokesman said.
The fire was reported at 3:13 a.m. in the 4000 block of Ursula Avenue, a Los Angeles Fire Department dispatch supervisor said.
Crews at the scene declared a knockdown on the fire at 3:34 a.m., the dispatch supervisor said.
The deaths of the two boys were confirmed before 5 a.m., Devin Gales of the Los Angeles Fire Department told City News Service.
Three children got out safe from the apartment where the two boys were later found dead, RMG News reported.
The people who live in the complex make up a fairly close-knit community, because their apartment entrances open onto a common courtyard, one neighbor told RMG News.
The boys were 15-year-old twins, she told RMG News. She said one of the twin boys had Down Syndrome.
The cause of the fire was not immediately known. Investigators were at the scene.
