And I for one can’t wait.  I will be high tailing it back from Cabazon, where the California Black Caucus Retreat is taking place, just to attend this meeting.

As I said last week, I am extremely frustrated and disappointed in ULOAH (United Lesbians of African Heritage).  Their noticeable absense from the community, to me, doesn’t make sense.  And now there’s this internal struggle for power and ownership over an organization that is supposed to be about the community.

Oh yeah, we need to talk.

I received this email today that announced the community meeting and was signed by ULOAH Stakeholders.  Now that took me aback.  What is a ULOAH Stakeholder?  Am I not a stakeholder as a Black lesbian?  Or are these stakeholders that have a financial stake in ULOAH.  I need this clarified.

Anyway, I am sure that you have heard the news that ULOAH’s annual Black lesbian retreat Sistahfest has been cancelled due to irreconcilable balance sheets.  Which I also am hoping will be addressed at this meeting because the emails I have seen going back and forth about missing money and the such is becoming a bit to much.

I hope that all parties involved show up at this meeting, not just the ULOAH Stakeholders.  I also hope that the Black lesbian community attends this meeting and holds ULOAH accountable.  Los Angeles’ Black lesbian community has been on a steady decline for past several years.  Even though you can’t cross the street without running into one of us.  Why is that?

Anyway, enough of my rant and rave, I will see you Sunday.
