ICYMI: L.A. Mayor Eric Garcetti Discusses Ezell Ford and Tritobia Ford Responds

In case you missed it, last week Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti came on the Front Page with Dominique DiPrima on KJLH 102.3 FM to discuss a plethora of issues concerning Black Angelenos and their Mayor.  One of those issues concerned the 2014 LAPD shooting death of Ezell Ford in South Los Angeles.

Garcetti’s appearance wasn’t as cut and dry as his handlers would have liked because not soon after he got off of the air there was a request made by Tritobia Ford, Ezell Ford’s mother, to come on the show and to let’s say “clear up” exactly what the Mayor’s response to the death of her son was.

And while all of this is going on, there’s still no word on the fate of the two officers involved in the death of Ezell Ford following the Los Angeles Police Commission’s ruling.

You can hear the Mayor’s entire interview on the Front Page here:

The Court of Public Opinion

  • And while all of this is going on, there’s still no word on the fate of the two officers involved in the death of Ezell Ford following the Los Angeles Police Commission’s ruling.

No discipline. Shooting will be found to be “in policy”. Federal civil rights lawsuit to follow. Huge mid-seven figure settlement by LA without “admitting liability”. End of story. Rinse. Repeat cycle.

  • Tricky Ricky

Liability? Why should the City of Los Angeles pay when they did nothing wrong. Fight with the police and attempt to disarm them, this is what you get and deserve. The entire Ford family is hooked up with the East Coast Crips gang. Really, this is who you all are supporting?

  • They pay because they DID DO SOMEHTIN WRONG, that’s why. And YOU are not the one who determines what a person “deserves”. The entire LAPD is hooked up with the West Coast Crips gang. Really, this is who you all are supporting? (see, I can make bogus claims just like you do )

They pay because it’s cheaper to just pay out than going to trial.

  • No it is not cheaper than going to trial , trial is much LESS, they pay because they are wrong.

  • neroden

Well, “settling” is cheaper for LA than going to trial and LOSING because LAPD is *guilty as sin*. Actually losing the trials outright could mean not only much, much larger payouts, but also federal supervision, withdrawal of federal funding, etc.

If LA had a chance of actually winning at these trials, it would be cheaper to go to trial, but they don’t…
