Yesterday I spent the morning with about 25 young ladies from Jefferson High School’s Sister Circle program. Under the leadership of my girl Bobbi McDaniel, these young ladies are being mentored and molded into future productive members of society. As part of the program, the students participated in the City’s Denim Day activities at City Hall where they met Councilmembers Bernard Parks and Jan Perry. In addition, they spent much the afternoon on the 27th floor of City Hall in the Tom Bradley Room overlooking the entire city. In coordination with the City’s Commission on the Status of Women, led by my girl Kellie Hawkins, the students discussed various issues related to politics. At one point there was a wonderful discussion with a visiting delegation of Chinese Government officials where the ladies learned how to say a few phrases in Chinese and were invited to come and visit China. Kudos to the students, Bobbi, and Kellie. I had a blast thanks for inviting me.
