Today I said thank you to the students who helped me on March 25 when my grandmother lost consciousness.
Above I am pictured with Gardena Campus Everest College Medical Assistant students, Latasha Garrett, Angel Maxwell, and Menisha Smith. Not pictured due to absence were Shawniece Donaldson and Kimkevia Mason-Brown.
On March 25, my grandmother fainted in front of the Gardena Medical Plaza after receiving two doses of insulin from her doctor that caused her blood sugar level to drop so quickly that she lost consciousness as we were leaving the doctor’s office. Thanks to the students above who were in front of the medical plaza at the and sprung into action calling the paramedics, my grandmother is doing much better today. Despite the racist Los Angeles County Paramedics and equally racist and trifling McCormick’s paramedics that arrived on the scene.
In addition, I am pleased to say that Certificates of Appreciation from Assemblymember Curren Price, whose district includes the city of Gardena and Gardena City Councilmember Steve Bradford will also be given to the students for their actions.
Latasha, Angel, Menisha, Shawniece, and Kimkevia, keep up the good work and hold your head up. You are making a difference already!
