We’re not against the police. We’re not against the police department, but we are against police who commit misconduct (and those who help cover it up).
We hate to say we told you so, but we did.
Here’s your latest update on the Los Angeles Police Department’s version of the Catholic church’s Vatican shuffle.
Below are transfer orders regarding two LAPD captains whose shenanigans warranted more of a demotion or firing but by virtue of who they are (command staff) only netted them both downgrades to the ranking of Captain I i.e. the Vatican shuffle.
Now in Exhibit A, we can see that Captain III J. Egan of West Valley Division has been kicked to OO as a Captain I J. Egan. This was effective November 29, 2015. We all know that OO, or the Office of Operations is where they send the captains who are bad apples while they figure out what to do with them.
In Exhibit B, we see that Captain II E. Pape of West Traffic Division will now be known as Captain I E. Pape of Hollenbeck Division. Captain Pape has had an interesting year. He went all the way from a Captain III in Internal Affairs overseeing the Ethics Unit to a Captain II in OO, to a Captain II in West Traffic and now a Captain I in Hollenbeck. Ouch.
Needless to say, both of these men, regardless of their transgressions still remain members of command staff because that’s how they get down in the Department. But you and I know the real and these Transfer Orders are validation of the facts.
