While out in Palm Springs at Dinah Shore, I had the opportunity to meet an up and coming sista who is an author out of Memphis, TN by the name of Skyy.

Skyy’s debut novel Choices, which is currently on sale in a store near you, is about the lives and relationships of four African-American collegiate women. Skyy plans to follow her literary debut with a series of books surrounding the same characters in Choices.

April Blair, Skyy, was born and raised in Memphis, TN. Always daydreaming about big goals, she began to call herself SKY because she felt it represented her. She considered herself big, beautiful and her emotions were like the weather, can change in an instant. After becoming a member of Memphis‘ largest lesbian family/house, Sky was changed to Skyy Blu to use as her family name and has stuck.

I am pleased to introduce Skyy Blu as the latest Lesbians I Love profile.

An Excerpt From Chapter One of Choices

Denise put on her shades and relaxed in the back seat of her best friend’s Explorer. As soon as the girl gave her best friend the look, Denise knew it was time to get out of the truck. She stepped out and scanned the college campus; it seemed to look smaller every year.

Sounds of the latest hip-hop jam blared through the large speakers that the local hip-hop station had set up in front of the Student Center. Sorority women strolled to the songs throwing up their hand signs, while fraternity men yelled their frat calls. Anxious people watched, some dreaming of the day they would be in the middle of the lines.

“Damn,” Denise said as the passenger door hit her on her back.

“My bad, Dee. Didn’t mean to hit you,” Lauren smiled as she hopped out of the truck.

“Um…” Denise said pointing to Lauren’s twisted skirt. “You might want to fix that.”

Lauren blushed. “Damn,” she said adjusting her skirt. She pulled on her shirt to make sure it was in place as well. “Tell Cooley I will see her later.”

Denise watched the young girl switch away. She shook her head. “Will you never learn?”
