I am back home in Los Angeles just in time for Los Angeles’ annual celebration of gay pride in West Hollywood, better known as Christopher Street West.
Last night, CSW held its annual Mayor’s Reception in West Hollywood where I had a chance to catch up with pal NBA Hall of Famer John Amaechi who is this year’s Grand Marshall. As you can see above, John is looking good and life is treating him well.
The reception was held at the Factory Night Club in West Hollywood, which for me caused me to second guess even attending the event. Earlier this year, the Factory had plans to play host to Shirley Q. Liquor. Need I say more? But the event went off without a hitch.
CSW has bestowed its Community Service Award for 2007 to At the Beach Los Angeles Black Pride, L.A.’s annual Black gay celebration that takes place in July.
In addition, tomorrow night, I am speaking at the CSW Dyke March and Rally where one of my all time favorite artists is going to perform…Meshell N’degeocello. On Sunday, At the Beach will be riding in the CSW annual parade down Santa Monica Blvd. So as you can see, I’ve got a packed weekend.
