While the death of Willi Ninja ("Paris Is Burning") has not gone unoticed in the Black LGBT community, I feel a lot better knowing that his passing and life accomplishments will be read by millions around the country now that an Associated Press story has been published.
In the AP story, Madonna, through a spokesperson says that she was sorry to hear of his death.
"He was a great cultural influence to me and hundreds of thousands of other people," she said.
"Paris is Burning" director Jennie Livingston said Ninja, a "supremely gifted dancer" who was extremely focused and dedicated to his craft, was "one of the main reasons" she made the film.
