The July edition of Ebony Magazine is about to his stands June 9. Featuring Serena Williams on the cover, yours truly wrote the story.

That’s right. I wrote the cover story for Ebony Magazine’s July 2008 edition!

Holla!

But for real though, I am so happy that it’s finally hitting stands. We work months ahead in magazine publishing. I interviewed Serena in April here in California in Malibu and kept the news to myself until it was time for the magazine to hit stands.

As many of you know, Serena is one of my role models.

Her persistence and perseverance in an industry that’s not particularly welcoming of Black women is inspiring.

Plus, ever since I dropped the weight I’ve been trying to get her body shape, lol. I took up playing tennis as well. Keeping it real.

Serena and I have a lot in common. We both lived in Compton and attended the Kingdom Hall for Jehovah’s Witnesses.

Well the magazine hits stands June 9 so show your girl some love for her first cover story with Ebony and make sure you pick up a copy.

From the rumors of her dating rapper Common to how she stays fit and what the summertime means to her, Serena really opened up about her life.

Big thanks to Ebony’s editorial director Lynn and creative director Harriet for giving me a shot. This sista truly appreciates it.

Sidenote: Serena and Venus will be in L.A. for the East West Classic in July at the Home Depot Center. I’ll be there, will you?
