…and to be honest, if it weren’t for her conservative views, Sarah Palin endorsement, and the fact that she’s a registered Republican trying to represent Compton, Watts, Carson, and Long Beach— she might have had a real chance at winning the 37th Congressional seat next Tuesday.

Malcom Maclachlan takes a deeper look at Star Parker’s candidacy in this week’s edition of the Capitol Weekly.

Black, female, Republican, running against incumbent Laura Richardson–she’s probably best known for her first book “Pimps, Whores and Welfare Brats: From Welfare Cheat to Conservative Messenger,” her memoir of her lost years and political awakening. In it she compared welfare to slavery.  In  2003 she published “Uncle Sam’s Plantation: How Big Government Enslaves America’s Poor and What We Can Do About It” and in 2006, she used “White Ghetto: How Middle Class America Reflects Inner City Decay” to argue that the welfare system hurts everyone, not just the people who are in it.
