As an African-American Democrat, I share the core values of my political party. That is why I am a Democrat. Like me, most African-American Democrats do not want to see the mass deportation of undocumented citizens and families broken up. That said, we would be completely within our right to give the side eye to political leaders who are falling over themselves to get on the ‘sanctuary state’ PR bandwagon.
It’s not missed on me that included in the silent majority of voters that made Donald J. Trump the 45th President of the United States were disenfranchised African-American voters of the Silent Generation. In fact, if my grandfathers were alive today, I am pretty sure they’d have voted for Trump. Why? Because Trump, unlike his opponent, spoke their language—jobs for Americans.
To quote the great Bay Area philosopher E40, “Everybody get choices.” Tuesday, November 8th is your chance to make yours. Here’s how I’m voting.
