Dana Owens, a.k.a. Queen Latifah is having a good month. Not only is featured on the cover of the October edition of ESSENCE Magazine, but she’s also been selected as one of Newsweek’s “Top 20 Women in Leadership.”
In the article, Latifah says that, “I’ve taken bumps and bruises in my life, and here I am. I’m way far from perfect. I just try to be honest about my mistakes and try to be real and try to be as normal as a person in my business can be.”
Moving on…in the ESSENCE article Latifah talks about leading in Hollywood and marriage proposals.
Again, no comment.
Latifah tops Newsweek’s list along with African Americans fashion designer Tracy Reese, Brown University President Ruth Simmons, Marine Colonel Adele Hodges, and Starcom MediaVest Group CEO Renetta McCann.
In other news, young Black lesbian women still in need of postive role models and lesbians and gays are still being denied the right to get married.
