Sacheen Littlefeather 43 Years Later on Diversity in Hollywood

I sat down and spoke to actress and Native American Indian activist Sacheen Littlefeather who in 1973 refused the Best Actor Academy Award on behalf of Marlon Brando for his role in The Godfather.

Now 69, Ms. Littlefeather spoke candidly to me about her experience in Hollywood as a Native American Indian actress and those of her colleagues, John Wayne threatening to take her off of the stage at the Oscars, the FBI ruining her acting career and diversity in Hollywood then and now.

This interview first aired in Los Angeles on Pacifica’s KPFK 90.7 FM Uprising Asafo Edition show on January 26, 2016. You can hear both that broadcast and the entire interview below.
