We’re not against the police. We’re not against the police department, but we are against police who commit misconduct (and those who help cover it up).

I don’t know about you, but if I was a Los Angeles police officer charged with felony assault under the color of authority I would not be promoting “Shootin’ Fuckin’ Newton” on my social media accounts.  But hey that’s just me.

Apparently, Newton Division’s Officer Richard Garcia thinks otherwise.

Some of his none-too-pleased colleagues steered me to Officer Garcia’s Instagram page where his profile pic is quite interesting to say the least.

In case you’re not up on game, Officer Garcia was one of the officers who beat the crap out of Clinton Alford in South Los Angeles last year.  To date, he’s also the only one who has been criminally charged.

As is the case when I write about these things, I am sure Officer Garcia will immediately take down or change his profile pic.

Still though, it’s the kind of thing only an idiot does or someone who just doesn’t care what people think. Either way, it’s not a good look especially considering Newton is probably considered to be the LAPD’s worst division for police misconduct, officer-involved-shootings and police brutality.
