Chok and Jas

Okay so I have been sooooooooooooo busy this past week with work (and I am still working today–yes Sunday) that I hadn’t checked in on my weight loss diary and I’ve got 11 days until the big day.

So I had two pleasant surprises today.  The first was when I convinced myself to jump on the scale after avoiding it for a week to see what the damage was.  It said 170.4 pounds.  I can dig it!  Five more pounds and I’ll be where I was on my birthday last year and that’s what I am talking about.  But alas, it won’t stop after my birthday.  With the holidays coming, a sista is going to need to have a grip on her appetite.  Random thought: Why am I already looking for the eggnog at the grocery store?

It hasn’t been easy though.  I have to tell you that I am seriously struggling right now with making wise eating decisions.  It almost feels like I have an angel on the left side saying “Girl, you better get that salad” and a devil on the right side saying, “Fuck the dumb shit and got for what you know and have it your way.”

Needless to say, I am not sure if I will be able to keep it up through the 22nd but I am determined to give it a try.  Which leads me to surprise number two…

My girl Choklate’s in L.A. shooting her video for “Grown Folks!”  Of course of course she called me up to go hiking this morning.  That made my day because she is so much fun to hang out with.  So besides my BFF Alan-Michael, Chok went hiking with me and that’s a great way to start off the week.  We’re having dinner later tonight, make that–Chok’s cooking over at my place later tonight, lol.  I have got to stay out of the restaurants for now, lol.  Chok’s makes a really good caprese salad I like.  She’s actually the one who got me to start my own little herb garden.  I was inspired when she crashed at my place last year.  But that inspiration didn’t lead to a green thumb and well, let’s just say while my intentions were to water those little plants, they eventually ended up dying.  My bad.  I guess that’s why I don’t have kids or pets.

Question.  Does anyone have any tips for people who don’t have time to cook but want to east sensibly and don’t want to eat out or nuke their food? I am constantly struggling on ways to combat this issue of not having time to cook, not wanting to microwave something, and keeping my ass out of the drive thru lane.  I am open to suggestions.

I am also interested in hearing from anyone who has had a colonic.  I was thinking about doing one and was wondering what other folks’ experience in doing it was.  I’ve heard it can make your tummy go down considerably.

Fall is rolling around here in Los Angeles and so with it comes rain.  I am looking for something that I can do indoors for those days that I can’t play tennis or hike.  I was thinking about going back and taking gymnastics.  I used to be a pretty good gymnast when I was in grade school through junior high.  Today, I can still do cartwheels, roundoffs, and handstands, lol, but it takes a lot more muscle to life this ss off the ground.  I was also considering something complete new like racquetball.  Any thoughts?  Oh, I love to dance too.  Anything but the gym.  Not the evil gym, lol.

Anyway, it’s back on the grind.  I promised I’d check in and give an update and so there it is, 170 lbs.  It could be better, it could be worse, but it is what it is.
