Kelly

There are reports circulating now that the woman in recording artist R. Kelly’s alleged sex video is planning to take the stand in his trial to testify in defense of R. Kelly that it wasn’t her in the video.

But trip.  The girl’s relatives are going to be called by the prosecution to say otherwise.

Ouch!  Can someone say Stockholm syndrome?

As we are well aware, Kelly faces 14 counts of child pornography after a videotape was made showing a man, believed to be the artist, engaged in sex acts with and urinating on the young girl. After more than five years since Kelly was first charged, the trial is finally scheduled to begin on Sept. 17 and is expected to last three to four weeks.

According to the Chicago Sun-Times, Kelly refers to the girl as his "goddaughter" on the album liner notes of his "TP2.com" album. Her father once served as his bass player. The girl and her parents reportedly told police and a grand jury that she was not the girl in the video.  But the girl’s aunt confirmed for the Sun-Times it was indeed her niece on the video and that she appeared to be about 14 at the time. Also, the girl’s former best friend testified two years ago that it was her friend in the video and that she remembers the time well, when both were 14, because both girls had the same haircut.

Court papers reveal the friend said she and the other girl began hanging out with Kelly in the summer after sixth grade.  Another friend, and her mother, said at that same 2005 hearing that the woman who will testify is the girl in the tape, the Sun-Times reported.

Meanwhile, Kelly’s albums are still flying off shelves like hotcakes.

The trial hasn’t even started and it’s getting nasty.  I can only imagine what’s going to come out when it does finally get underway.
